TOWN OF COLLIERVILLE

Creating a logo and clear identity for a city has been on my bucket list for years, and, in 2024, I was able to proudly mark it off. When the Town of Collierville approached me about creating a mark, I gladly accepted this unique job. I sat down with Jennifer Casey from the Town to discuss the direction this could go. For decades, Collierville had used a crest for its identity. While historic, the crest was hyper-detailed, busy, and a bit dated. In the brainstorming meeting, Jennifer and I both agreed that this new logo needed to be fresh, modern, and rich in story. I sat down to work on a variety of pencil sketches that highlighted different aspects of the Town: the beautiful train depot, the large clocks on Main Street, and the water tower that stands valiantly over downtown. However, while I initially tried to stay away from focusing on the gazebo that is nested in the middle of the bustling Square, after much thought, I knew I had to keep it. It is Collierville. What we landed on is a logo that proudly proclaims the beauty and serenity of this wonderful Town. The Gazebo is the focus, telling the history of this Memphis suburb. The lush greenery points to the pristine parks that Collierville is so proud of. The hidden "c" in the gazebo's roof hints at the hidden gems you will stumble upon while in Collierville. And, finally, the mark is framed by a window —  inspired by the Morton Museum —  that serves as a "window of opportunity" for viewers; a window that shows Collierville's historic past while looking toward a modern and inspiring future.
